Often times, I imagine there’s an author somewhere, sitting in a beautiful home library. Books surround him but he’s only interested in one story: the one he is writing. And he’s convinced it’s going to be the greatest story ever written.
The story is about me and it’s constantly changing.
Sometimes I’m the hero of the story, never wavering, long suffering, willing to sacrifice all that I have for the greater good. Other times I’m the sidekick, the best friend who is supportive and always gives good advice. But then there are dark days where I am the villain in the story, selfish, manipulative, cruel—often times to myself. I don’t like reading these pages.
You might wonder why I imagine an author writing my story. The point is it helps me to be a better person by reminding me of who I want to be. I want to be known as the hero in my story or even the sidekick when the occasion arises. And I hope that when my story is told, it will show that I developed as a character, and the plot didn’t control me—I controlled it.
At this point in your life, what role do you feel you are portraying?
During Fractured Soul’s blog tour, I will discuss these different character roles. They can be found here:
