This is the second book of the Persephone Alcmedi series and I liked it better than the first one. The characters were developed more in depth; I really felt more of a connection with Johnny. He made me giggle a few times with his lewd, flirtatious comments. Persephone really grows as a character in this book. She’s a well-rounded character and I felt like she grew on me even more. In the first book, I liked her, but felt like she was a distant character. Now I enjoy reading about her character. Again, relationships like Persephone and Johnny develop even more and I enjoyed the ride. Everyone clicked together. It’s smuttier in this book… detailed and everything. I just want the reader to know so he/she is not surprised like I was.
The plotline felt very similar to the first book. Everything was interesting and I loved reading about Robertson’s world, but sometimes I felt it was slow and I had to skim. It wasn’t bad, just a few parts, but it would have been great if she didn’t include some superfluous scenes. The engaging characters made up for the slow portions. Overall, Hallowed Circle was a great book and I definitely want to read the next!
