Lust For Life by Jeri Smith-Ready

Posted on 11:00 PM by Unknown

EVERYONE’S OUT FOR BLOOD—HERS Ciara’s con-artist parents taught her three keys to survival: keep low, keep quiet, and most of all, keep moving. But managing WVMP, the Lifeblood of Rock ’n’ Roll—not to mention becoming a vampire herself—has kept her in one place long enough to fall madly in love, adopt an undead dog . . .

. . . and make more enemies than she can shake a stake at.

A psychotic DJ, a wanna-be necromancer, and a posse of vengeful hippies would all love to see Ciara get her day in the sun—literally. To protect Ciara, her fiancé, Shane, has traded his flannel shirt and guitar for a flak jacket and crossbow. If she survives to walk down the aisle, will she recognize the man waiting at the altar?

In this final chapter of the award-winning WVMP RADIO series, Ciara must decide who to trust, whom to love—and whom to kill.
Goodreads Summary

FINALLY, the finale! It’s been around 3 years and I’ve been waiting for this day when Lust For Life is released. When the book was in my hands, everything around me ceased to exist. We see the main characters – Ciara and Shane – getting ready to get married (yay!). Ciara is planning the wedding and Shane is still improving his fighting skills. Someone you wouldn’t expect comes back in this book. Wait for it… waiiiiiit for it… JIM! Yep, he’s back and hell-bent on revenge. When he comes to crash the wedding, and by crash I mean brutally murder Ciara, Shane kills him. That’s good, right? WRONG! (kind of) because now all of Jims’ friends are out to enact revenge over his death. Through the whole book I just wanted Ciara and Shane married and happy. Will they get that happily ever after? Dun, dun DUUUUUUUN!

Alright, so Ciara and Shane are still one of my favorite book couples and this book is nothing different. I love Ciara; she’s so kick-ass and smart. Nothing she does made me think she qualifies as a “too stupid to live” character. She’s a strong lead and independent character that doesn’t take crap from anyone. Shane is still my boyfriend… if this were real life I’d steal him away from Ciara ASAP. There are new characters introduced, such as Jim’s replacement, and he’s a good addition to the clan. The plot wasn’t as action-packed in this book. It slows down to a good pace. There were many twists and turns; I couldn’t figure out what was going to happen next. There’s a HUGE twist that I loved (it’s a good twist, no worries) and I have to say Smith-Ready ended the series with a big bang. I was afraid she was going to rush the ending or leave me with questions, but thankfully that wasn’t the case. I felt closure, but when I closed the book I almost cried because there are no more adventures with Ciara and Shane. I’ll just have to re-read the series over and over again. PLEASE read this book!

5/5 stars
